prices will crash, and you could be out of business. There could be a storm at the wrong moment, which knocks all of the flowers off of the trees or buries the farm in mud. Or a fungus could wipe out your trees – and your livelihood – for years to come. Our farmers are like family to us, and we want them to do well. We guarantee our farmers a profit – and a comfortable life. We also help them with improved farming methods, environmentally responsible practices, crop yield increases, and producing better coffee. But suppose we had a great idea for a farmer to try – and it didn’t work out, and hurt his crop? Not good. So, we try our ideas out on our own farms. We have over 3,000 acres from where we try to develop better tasting coffee. We also try other ideas which can lead to increased yields, more natural production methods, and more consistent, higher quality milling and processing methods.
Papua New Guinea Organic Wild-grown Unroasted Green Coffee Beans (3 LB) is best for youSize:3 LB Most Papua New Guinea beans available now are sourced from lower altitudes due to the inaccessibility of the highest-altitude farms. Poor infrastructure, volcanic lava flows and (mostly) bandits have complicated transportation and caused many farmers to be cut off from the outside world market. You will see a lot of Papua New Guinea coffee on the market today that is surprisingly inexpensive; the sad truth is that most of this inexpensive PNG coffee has been stolen from the producers and sold through commodity markets. Essentially, you see low prices on this because starving families have been robbed of their produce. We believe that only by certifying the origin of PNG coffee can you be sure you are supporting the families that produced it. This is why we love our PNG coffee, it is personally flown from tiny airstrips at the top of the peaks to the port from which it is shipped to the USA! This is part of a well-organized humanitarian mission to connect farmers with products and medical supplies from the lowlands. The care put into finishing and selecting these coffee is amazing, they are among the cleanest crops we have ever seen. About 10% of the beans are 'monster' beans, screening well above 20 gauge, making them as large as even the biggest Liberica beans (see secondary photo) Coffee was established in Papua new Guinea in the 1800's using seed stock from Jamaica Blue Mountain Variety, which has evolved indigenously on its own since those times. As with Blue Mountain, the cup is smooth, rich, buttery, with exotic fruit and floral notes. We have found there is no wrong roast level for these beans. Best flavor is achieved after about 24 hours 'rest' from roasting time. Expect to add 20% to your roasting time due to the large size and density of the beans.
